Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, a well-known batsman of the Indian cricket team has made remarkable contributions to the history of cricket. He was the youngest test player of India. He made his debut at the age of sixteen in 1989 playing his first international test match. Today he holds the record of scoring the maximum number of centuries in both test and one day matches. He is also famous as the leading run-scorer and century maker. Apart from being a top-order batsman, Tendulkar is also a useful bowler. Popularly he is known as tendulya, the littlemaster, the master blaster, the little champion and also the god of cricket by his fans and critics.

Sir Don Bradman says that Tendulkar reminds him of himself. This is a great compliment for any cricketer. He has made many records in the history of test matches. In tests, he holds the record of fifty centuries and he is also the first player to make fifty centuries in all international cricket together. Sachin has scored 13, 447 runs in test matches playing about 166 matches. This is a record with a batting average of 55.56. Scoring 30,000 international runs makes him the first cricketer to do in the world of cricket. He has crossed Brian Lara’s previous record of 11,953 runs in test cricket. He received a standing ovation from the crowd as well as from his opponents. The Australian team clapped for him and it was a wonderful moment. During the fourth test of Border-Gavaskar trophy, he even broke the record of Allan border to become the sportsman to cross the 50-runmark the maximum number of times.

Speaking more about his test cricket records, he is also the second player to score eleven centuries against Australia. He got a tie with sir Jack Hobs who made this record some seventy years before Tendulkar. Sachin Tendulkar has received the Padma Vibhushan award for being the first Indian cricketer to cross the mark of 30,000 runs in test cricket. He scored his 50th century against South Africa on 19th December 2010 being the only player to score about 50 centuries in test cricket history. The recent ICC test rankings of international cricket are that India tops in the chart of test cricket undoubtedly the credit goes mainly to Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin is at the second spot in test rankings very close to Kumar Sangarakha, the Sri Lankan player who is at the top-most ranking. He is the second Indian to cross the 10,000 runs feat in test cricket after Sunil Gavaskar. And his record of five centuries before he turned 20 has not been broken by anyone yet. Against all test playing countries, Tendulkar has scored centuries. His 37th century against Bangladesh in the second test made history because it was the first time that any four players of the same country in the same match hit a century each. Tendulkar will remain the most worshiped player in the history of international test cricket world.
