Maldives – A Great Place to Visit

Who doesn’t love to go on a vacation? I am sure we all do from time to time. For all of you who are seeking a perfect place to enjoy the vacation, going to their much awaited honeymoon, trying to go for scuba diving or have a bath in the sea can easily turn around and fly to Maldives. This is a beautiful destination for visitors where life couldn’t be simpler. Warm beach water, beautiful blue sky and colorful towns are awaiting you to arrive. Pull your swimming socks up, take a camera, pack your bags, and get ready to have a blast in Maldives.

If you are worried about how to get to Maldives, then please don’t. Maldives is probably the easiest place to get a visa to. It gives you a visa on arrival for 30 days. But you need to have necessary documents with you for that. The reservations in hotels don’t cost that much too. Just a mere 150 USD will do. However, importing certain substances are banned (pork, alcohol and pornographic materials) here unless you want to be punished. Male International Airport is your door to Maldives. Planes from Sri-Lanka, Singapore, Britain and Dubai land there. If you are from Italy, Gan Airport is the one at Addu you’ll be aiming for. They have flights that arrive from and depart for Milan.

Once you are in Maldives, you can use boats as local transports. These are like taxis in Maldives. Another transport you can have is air taxis (private plane that render transporting services). You can have privately owned Yachts do the transport service for you. You will need IATP (Internal Atoll Traveling Permit) with you to visit places except Male. Interestingly, your passport and an invitation of the resident of your desired Island is needed to get you one. You need to give out 10 Malaysian Rupees to avail the paper.

Maldives is popular for scuba diving. The divers enjoy it in the seas and have a great time there. They prefer to stay in the ships rather than resorts. The reason is the resort fee is very high there. You will see fishes of various kinds under water in Maldives and the coral Islands are just awesome to behold. Surfing can be another option for a sea lover. The biggest waves soak Maldives between the months of March to October. June-July is the ideal time for a little surfing or snorkeling.

You will find very few handicraft shops in Male to buy from. The Maldives Rufiah is something that can be called a Souvenir itself. The coins make up wonderful presents. As far as the food goes, you can expect a lot of sea foods which have a flavor of southern India and Sri-Lanka. Rest assured the food will be spicy with fish and “Roshi” (very much akin to Roti in India).

Maldives is a great place to visit when you have the summer looking at you. The beaches, sea world and the cuisines steal your attention away from anything else. You just need to get into Maldives, sneak your head in the waves and Enjoy!
