Construction – Options for Mausoleums

There are two main categories of Mausoleums.

Private estate Mausoleums and Cemetery owned Mausoleum Buildings.

We sell Private Estate Mausoleums for families who wish to be interred in beautiful granite above
ground memorials.

Mausoleums are typically made from granite and can be made in many granite colors and design
styles. The front doors may be of different colors, have custom sandblast of etched designs on
them and can be adorned with memorial pictures.

The two types of private estate mausoleums are:

Vestibules These mausoleums look like small houses with a form door that opens to a vestibules
that has crypts on one or both sides. They many times have window in them, usually make of
stained glass. The crypt doors will allow the directly into the mausoleum through the front door.

Sarcophagus – These mausoleums are burial vaults placed above the ground. The have many
different looks. They can be a single , a double or triple side by side or a double or triple stacked.
It single or side by side, the casket is interred by lifting the top roof or shelf of the crypt and
placing the casket inside
If stacked 2 or 3 high, the casket is interred by removing the front granite panel and placing the
casket in the crypt from the front.

Roof Options

There are four options available for mausoleum roof designs.
Flat top

Flat top with roof cap gable top architectural gable top.

Floors.

Mausoleums can be constructed by either cement floors or granite floors.
Concrete floors are less expensive and are done when the mausoleum is installed by
the installer.

Doors

Doors for Sarcophagus style mausoleums are made from granite. They can be made
from different color granite and have etchings and designs carved into the granite face.
Memorial pictures can also adorn the front of these doors.
Vestibule style Mausoleums generally have full size typically bronze doors wit different
style fronts

Bases

They can be made with a full or step bases.

Ventilation for Crypts
All mausoleums are ventilated for moisture and gases.
There are connecting ventilation from crypt to crypt
There is also horizontal and vertical cross ventilation.

Epoxy VS Dowel Connections.

Construction methods some years back used pins and dowels to secure granite
pieces. Now,, super strong epoxies that hold the granite together and is stronger that
granite are used.. We suggest the epoxy construction method for strength and monetary
savings.
